Self-guided Tour and Trails
— 1 hour to 1.5 hours (reservations accepted)
— Allow at least one hour to complete a self-guided tour of the Museum.
To explore part of the nature trails in addition to the Museum, allow 90 minutes or more.
Hands-on Programs— 30 to 45 minutes each (reservations required)
— Age-appropriate, curriculum-coordinated, hands-on presentations for grades K through 12 are available for groups of 10 to 30 students. Teachers can choose from these topics: mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, invertebrates, plants, or fossils. Emphasis may be requested in these areas: classification, adaptation, habitat, aquatic studies, terrestrial studies, endangered species, or scientific skills and tools.
Wetlands Program— 1 hour (reservations required)
— The Museum offers an in-depth, hands-on constructed wetlands program. During this experience, students learn to appreciate the importance of wetlands by becoming wetlands researchers at LeFleur's Bluff State Park and studying the area's soil, plants, and water. The program is available to groups of 10 to 25 students in grades 4 through 12.
Please make your reservations at least two weeks in advance of your visit. Also, it’s important that you arrive at least 10 minutes before your reserved appointment. All programs will begin at their scheduled start times.
